This is lovely Shelley. When I was a child I spent many years living in Florida near the ocean but for over 30 years now have lived in Central NY. I have to say I don't miss living in Florida at all except for the ocean. This painting brings back many fond memories for me. Well done!

I have always used canvas for my oils, it would seep through the paper - maybe you primed it a few times first? interesting and very beautiful
